Keep It Kuula Poké*

This was a gifted PR event whilst blogging with Tralisty. Originally posted 26/5/18.

I had NEVER heard of poké, but when I got an invite from Delicious PR to attend the opening of Kuula Poké, I jumped at the chance!

What is poké?

The best way I can describe poké is a bowl of sushi or chicken on top of rice, salad and fruit.

Yes, you read that correctly. Fruit.

Kuula serves pineapple and mango in their bowls and it is SO fresh that you can pretend to be on a beach (ok, maybe not, but it’s defo fresh).

Kuula’s founder Felicity first discovered poké in LA when she was working there and decided to adventure over to Hawaii to learn about it properly.

I’m so glad she did because it’s absolutely delicious!

What’s In The Poké Bowl?

They have set bowls or you can create your own. We were super lucky that we could try everything they offered so I had:

  • A mix of the white sushi rice and the coconut rice
  • Poached chicken
  • Pineapple
  • Edamame beans
  • Mango
  • Wakame seaweed
  • Pickled red onion
  • Radish
  • Crispy shallots
  • Coconut ‘bacon’

Oh my actual goodness! It was SO delicious and so filling!! I actually had to eat it in a couple of sittings.

The only way I can describe it is that each flavour adds magic, nothing overpowers anything else, and the sauces add a level of ‘oh-my-goodness’.

The noises that I was making as I was eating it can only be described as finding pure bliss in a bowl.

Keep Kuula Poké

If you want to try somewhere new for lunch, I really recommend heading to Kuula Poké. It’s located on Colmore Row in Birmingham (conveniently in the business district!) and you can’t miss it!

The design is just beautiful with little things that you’ll notice over time (look at the fish…) and it’s just a lovely place to grab some lunch. Let me know what you think!
